History of Tea Cultivation

The first tea use in china as beverage commenced toward the close of the sixth century. The first authentic reference to tea was made in an ancient Chinese dictionary that is revised by Kua P’o. The first exclusive book on tea, ch’a ching have means of tea classic by Chinese tea expert Lu Yu was published in AD 780, this book describe about the tea process production.

Then tea spreads on using to celebrate in Japan and India and also by Portuguese in 1497. The large-scale tea trading between Europe and the oriental countries is beginning by Portuguese people. Dutch in Java then established one such depot, the tea was transported from Java to Europe in 1610. Dutch dominated of tea trade for more than a century and China become the sole supplier to Europe till the middle of the 19th century.

The next generation then many country cultivated of tea like in Assam tea plant is attributed to Robert Bruce in 1823. In 1834 the then Governor General of India Lord William Bentinck appointed a Tea Committee to advise on feasibility of commercial tea cultivation in India.
